Job Seeker’s FAQ

The Pennsylvania Primary Care Career Center is here to help you find a job that fits your values, a place where you can earn a living where your heart is. How do we do it? Find out by reading the FAQs below. If you can’t find an answer to your question, email Judd Mellinger-Blouch.

Do the employers on your job board sponsor J1, H1-B, and other visas?

Many of the employers are willing to work with physicians and dentists who are on the path to U.S. citizenship. Contact us about a specific job or group of jobs and we can give you more details.

Do I have to pay for your services?

We are very happy to work with a broad range of candidates at no charge to you. We are a non-profit career center funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, so you don’t pay for our services.

Do I have control over which employers contact me or am I going to get contacted by all kinds of employers?

Before we provide your name and information to an employer, we check with you to see if you’re interested in the job. You can tell us if you want urban or rural, the region of Pennsylvania, the size of the organization… just about any information to help us narrow the search. We only refer you to organizations you choose.

Can you help me find a job with loan repayment?

Yes, we can help you find a job that qualifies for loan repayment. All loan repayment programs require you to first have a job with a qualified employer and then apply for loan repayment. I’m a National Health Service Corps (NHSC) scholar. Can you help me?

Indeed we can. All members of PACHC qualify as NHSC sites. However, the NHSC requires scholars to work at a site with a certain Health Provider Shortage Area (HPSA) score. We can help you narrow your search and find you a job at a site that meets the criteria.

What other services do you offer job seekers?

We are happy to advise you on your job search, review your CV/resume and cover letter, and find answers to your other questions. If your heart is in a location other then Pennsylvania, we have a national network that can help you find a job and earn a living where your heart is.

Are you a third-party recruiting firm?

Not really. We’re more of a referral service. Our goal is to expand access to primary care by helping you find a job that you love and a job that loves you back. Delivering high quality healthcare to the underserved is the core of what we do.

What is 3RNet and how can they help me?

3RNET stands for the National Rural Recruitment and Retention Network. It’s a non-profit network of organizations working to find clinicians to work in rural and urban underserved areas. You can sign up at www.3rnet.org and get information and alerts about jobs in specialties and locations of interest to you.

What type of organizations do you work with?

Most of the organizations we work with are Community Health Centers, officially known as Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). But we also work with rural health clinics, health systems, and others.
