The 2023 class of National Health Service scholars and Student-to-Service (S2S) participants are beginning their job search, looking for locations to fulfill their service requirement. NHSC scholars and S2S clinicians are required to serve at an NHSC site between two to four years.
For the Class of 2023, the Health Professions Shortage Area (HPSA) score requirement for S2S remains at 14, but has dropped from 20 to 18 for physicians, dentists, and nurse practitioners. Meanwhile, physician assistants can serve at a location with a HPSA score of only 5. This means several more Community Health Centers in Pennsylvania will be eligible.
Here are action steps for Community Health Centers:
- Update your site profile and job vacancies on the Health Workforce Connector so NHSC scholars and S2S participants can search for you. You can also use the connector to search for these candidates.
- Update your jobs with the Pennsylvania Primary Care Career Center, either directly through your 3RNET account or by contacting Angela Marti, Recruitment Coordinator.
- If you don’t know your HPSA score or need info on HPSAs, email Judd Mellinger-Blouch.
