HPSA Score Requirements Rise for 2025 Some NHSC Scholars
The HPSA score requirements for the class of 2025 National Health Service Corps Scholars are on the rise for physician assistants and certified nurse midwives, increasing from 3 to 5 and 7 to 16, respectively.
The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Scholarship Program awards scholarships to students pursuing an eligible primary care health profession training or degree program. In exchange for a two to four year service commitment at an approved site, scholars receive payment to cover tution, fees, and other reasonable educational costs, as well as a monthly stipend while in school. Approved sites must meet the HPSA score requirements by class year.
For the 2025 class, the minimum scores for physicians, nurse practitioners, and psychiatrists did not change and remain at 19. Minimum scores for dentists were reduced from 19 to 3. The current HPSA Score requirements are:
Discipline | CY 2025 |
Primary Care Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) | 19 |
Nurse Practitioner (NP) | 19 |
Physician Assistant | 5 |
Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM) | 16 |
Dentists (DDS & DMD) | 3 |
Psychiatric (MD & DO) | 19 |
