It has a downtown that is often bustling, particularly with Route 901 traffic funneling through it. In the 1800s and early 1900s, that same road, Sunbury Street, was a primary route from Reading to Sunbury. Located at the intersection of Routes 209 and 901, just outside of Minersville, is the Coal Miners Statue. Along with chunks of anthracite, some shrubbery, memorial bricks and sidewalks, this testimonial serves as a tribute to the Anthracite miner and to the coal-mining legacy for which the community was named.
